IMMA is a beneficiary of the American Friends of the Arts in Ireland (AFAI) which is a 501(c)(3) public charity registered it the United States. Its mission is to aid in the exhibition and performance of artforms by supporting specific projects of national and other significant cultural organizations in Ireland. AFAI will support the exchange of exhibitions and performances in the arts in general including visual arts, cultural history and other arts fields. Thanks to the AFAI, IMMA has received artworks as well as financial support for exhibitions and publications.
