Discussing a selection of works in the exhibition Rebuilding the Future by Wolfgang Tillmans, artist/photographer David Farrell presents an artist response on the materiality and conceptual strategies that have come to characterise the expanded field of photography practice in relation to Tillmans’ work.
Drawing on his own practice and interests in people and place, Farrell shares insights into Tillmans’ pioneering methodologies to making, curating and displaying prints as room installations and publications. Farrell discusses ways the artist increasingly experiments with image-making to dismantle how we may look, make and think about the physical photograph in the digital age.
